The Stand
When a runaway superflu wipes out most of humanity, scattered survivors try to make sense of a world suddenly stripped of rules, power, and safety. Drawn by vivid dreams and strange coincidences, they gravitate toward two opposing leaders: a compassionate elder promising community and renewal, and a ruthless figure offering fear and control. As new settlements form across a shattered America, fate pushes the living toward an inevitable confrontation.
A catastrophic lab-bred flu escapes containment and sweeps across the United States, collapsing everyday life in a matter of days. A handful of immune survivors emerge from empty towns, abandoned highways, and overwhelmed military checkpoints, each carrying grief, guilt, and hard-won resolve. As they travel in search of food, companionship, and answers, many begin experiencing powerful, shared dreams that feel like a summons. One vision leads them to an elderly woman in Nebraska who offers hope, mutual aid, and a chance to rebuild. Another draws people to a mysterious, charismatic man in the desert who rules through intimidation and promises of order. The survivors form rival communities, debate what justice should look like in a lawless world, and confront the lingering threat of violence, betrayal, and desperation. With resources dwindling and tensions rising, the two factions move toward a decisive test of faith, courage, and leadership.
