Deep beneath New York City, four ordinary turtles are altered by a strange green mutagen and quickly grow into human-sized teens. Their guardian, Splinter, a former human transformed into a rat, becomes their father figure and strict mentor, teaching them ninjutsu and a code of discipline. Each Turtle brings a different approach to heroism: Leonardo’s leadership, Raphael’s intensity, Donatello’s inventiveness, and Michelangelo’s playful confidence. When their secret world collides with the surface, they form a partnership with determined TV reporter April O’Neil, who helps them understand the city they’re sworn to protect.
