After learning his inheritance has vanished, recent college graduate Tod Stiles leaves his old life behind and heads onto America’s highways in a Corvette. Traveling with streetwise friend Buz Murdock, he takes temporary jobs and drifts from town to town. Each stop brings new people, fresh mysteries, and moral crossroads, blending adventure with grounded drama.

Set against the open road and shifting landscapes of early-1960s America, Route 66 follows Tod Stiles as he searches for direction after his family’s finances collapse and his planned future disappears. With Buz Murdock as his first traveling partner, Tod moves from city streets to small towns, picking up odd jobs to pay for gas and meals while trying to understand what he values and who he wants to become. Their travels put them in the paths of strangers facing pressure, temptation, injustice, and personal secrets, drawing the pair into mysteries, crime-related trouble, and emotionally charged dilemmas. The series uses a traveling format that refreshes the cast and setting each episode, focusing on character-driven stories shaped by the place they visit. Later, Tod’s journey continues with a new companion, Lincoln Case, whose own search for meaning reshapes the dynamic on the road.
